Miguel Olivo only needed to see one pitch from Chad Durbin. Olivo’s walk-off homer to lead off the 10th did the Phillies in as Colorado won 4-3 after tying the game in the seventh off Roy Halladay.
Halladay had his worst outing of the season and was still better than most of the league. He went 6 1/3 before he got pulled in the seventh, allowing three runs, two earned on 10 hits, two walks, and four strike outs. He got himself into a lot of trouble but got out of the jams, stuff you expect from an ace.
Chase Utley and Ryan Howard each had three hits. Jayson Werth doubled the fifth time in his last six games for his 18th on the year and Placido Polanco had a pair of hits.
Game two of the double-header was postponed due to the weather. A date for the game has yet to be made.
Doubles: Werth (18), Valdez (3), Polanco (7).
WP: Beimel (1-0). LP: Durbin (0-1).
