Jayson Werth homered and Joe Blanton pitched well in the Phillies 6-2 win over the Yankees. Werth went 2-3 with a three-run blast off of Damaso Marte in the fifth. Blanton pitched five strong innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out three.
Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard also had multi-hit games and Jose Contreras, Sergio Escalona, and Chad Durbin pitched four scoreless innings to close out the game. On a Yankees note, Joba Chamberlain continued to look immensely unimpressive as he is easily the most overrated player in the majors.
