Player: Eric Bruntlett
Consistency: This is how good Bruntlett was: he batted .400 in August and his next highest total was .222, which came in only nine AB’s in October and was the only other time he batted over .200 in a month. He just was the most disappointing guy off the bench for the Phillies and it really hurt his AB totals. He made the post season roster and scored a run in the NLCS as a pinch hitter and had only one AB in the World Series.
Regular Season Stats: 72 G, 105 AB, 15 R, 18 H, 7 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 7 RBI, 2 SB, 5 BB, 26 K, .171 AVG, .224 OBP, .238 SLG
Post Season Stats: 2 G, 1 AB, 1 R
Fielding: He turned an unassisted triple play versus the Mets after committing two errors in the same inning. Yea I’m confused too.
Health: He was never hurt.
Intangibles: He was a disappointment. But he never got down on himself or complained to the team during his struggles. He’s an intelligent player and a good team mate but he just did not cut it for the Phillies. He’s gone as the Phillies already replaced him with Juan Castro.
Overall Grade: D-. The triple play allowed him to pass. Good luck next year, Bruntlett. You were our loveable loser.
