Season in Review: For Aumont, his hype level was pretty high ever since he was the main trade chip at the end of 2009 for Cliff Lee. He finally started to live up to the hype this past season with both the Iron Pigs in Triple-A and the Phillies for the final month of the season.
Aumont started out horrible for the Pigs, posting a 6.48 ERA in April, a rough start that really made people question Aumont’s value in the Lee deal. But Aumont bounced back, posting a 2.45 ERA in May, a 3.97 in June and a 2.38 in July before being called up in August.
The Phillies view Aumont as a future closer in the organization, and allowed him to pitch in the back-end of the rotation while he was up with the Phillies. He impressed in most of his outings, striking out 14 batters in 14 2/3 innings of work.
