Phillies Trade Victorino to Dodgers

UPDATE — Shane Victorino has officially been traded to the Dodgers for reliever Josh Lindblom and Minor League pitcher Ethan Martin.

ORIGINAL — Shane Victorino’s tenure as a Phillie may officially end by 4 PM today.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are working on a deal with the Phillies that will send Victorino to Hollywood.

In Jayson Stark’s report, he said the Phillies and Dodgers have a deal in place that will include Josh Lindblom and another player.

Lindblom, 25, is a right-handed reliever with two years of Major League ball under his belt. Lindblom is 2-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 48 games this season, striking out 43 in 47 2/3 innings.

Murphy: D’Backs Interested In Lee; Upton Could Be In Deal

Another possible suitor for Cliff Lee has surface, at it comes from the desert.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are reportedly interested in Cliff Lee according to David Murphy of the Daily News. If the Diamondbacks want Lee, expect 24 year-old outfielder Justin Upton to be the centerpiece of that deal, especially with Shane Victorino likely out the door and the rumors surrounding Hunter Pence.

Ken Rosenthal has the original story.

Giants Interested in Phillies OF Hunter Pence

According to CBS’s Jon Heyman, the San Francisco Giants have a deal in place for Phillies outfielder Hunter Pence.

Heyman writes:

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro acknowledged in a recent interview that sometimes plans change.

The Giants weren’t believed to have much money to spend. But it appears they are considering spending some here.

The Phillies have led Pence to believe he won’t be traded, but it appears they are at least willing to listen. Pence is batting .268 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI this year and will make $13million to $15 million in arbitration next year.

Olney: Cliff Lee “In Play”; Rangers Most Logical Suitor

According to Buster Olney, Cliff Lee is officially “in play” as the deadline draws near.

Olney, like a lot of people, feel that the Rangers would be the most logical team interested in acquiring Lee. And accoring to Olney’s source, Lee will not come cheap to the Phillies.

That means prospects, and the Rangers have a prospect the Phillies desperately want in right-handed third baseman Mike Olt. Olt, 23, is hitting .291 with 27 homers and 80 RBIs with Double-A Frisco in the Texas League.

Morosi: Phillies Interested in 3B Headley; Could Trade Cliff Lee

According to FOX baseball writer Jon Morosi on Twitter, the Phillies are interested in Padres third baseman Chase Headley.

Headley, 28, is hitting .267 with 12 homers and 51 RBIs on the season.

Morosi added in a follow-up tweet that the Phillies could use the prospects they get in a trade for a veteran players, likely Joe Blanton or Shane Victorino. But he said if they get Rangers third base prospect Mike Olt for Cliff Lee, they would be out of the Headley talks.

So you heard it from Morosi first that the Phillies could potentially trade Cliff Lee to the Rangers in a deal centered around Olt.

Phillies SP Joe Blanton Available; Orioles Want Him

The Phillies haven’t made it clear if they are buyers or sellers at the deadline just yet, but one thing made clear is the availability of starting pitcher Joe Blanton.

The Phillies said that Blanton is available in a potential trade, and that the team with the most interest in him right now is Baltimore.

Knobler: Dodgers Eyeing Phillies Jimmy Rollins

As if today hasn’t already been filled with a lot of news regarding the trade deadline, Danny Knobler of CBS Sports reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are targeting Phillies short stop Jimmy Rollins for offensive help.

The Dodgers are without their own short stop Dee Gordon and would look to fill a hole. They are also reportedly interested in other Phillies Cole Hamels and Shane Victorino, but their lack of good prospects leaves Hamels a long shot.

If the Dodgers can’t pry Rollins from a struggling Phillies team, Victorino would be their go-to guy.

Los Angeles sees the Phillies as sellers at the deadline. And Rollins’ name fits because Dodgers first base coach Davey Lopes is a good friend of Rollins dating back to when he coached with the Phillies.

“The key to that [Phillies] ballclub has always been Rollins, as far as I’m concerned,” Lopes told [Knobler] last month in Philadelphia. “When Jimmy rolls, they roll.”

Wright could be Phillies 3B “very very soon”

The attempt the land Aramis Ramirez was a bust, leaving the Phillies to settle with Placido Polanco at third base.

But in a new twist of developments, their hunt for a new third baseman may have warmed back up.

According to a very reliable source close to The Philly Phans’ Kevin Kee, “David Wright may be the 3rd baseman very very shortly.”

Kee’s source has been good this year, including the Brian Schneider signing, update on Cole Hamels and the Jimmy Rollins deal.

This story is still developing so keep an eye on @ThePhillyPhans and this site.

RUMOR: Indians contact Phils about Victorino

“(The) Philadelphia Phillies (are) reportedly listening to offers for CF Shane Victorino, attempts to clear money for a big move.” – Rich Smith of All Sports Intel, a Twitter account for rumors.

Granted this isn’t a serious source, it’s still something to think about. If the Phils do in fact intend to clear money for a big move, Victorino is one of the players teams would covet as well as guaranteeing the Phillies a good return of prospects.

As noted by one of our followers, this “source” is the only one to report on a Victorino trade. Until a serious Phils beat writer or ESPN/MLB reporter weigh in on it, it’s nothing but a harmless rumor to stir the pot and get Phils fans a little riled.

Stark: Phils asked about Thome

The Phillies may not be done at the deadline after all.

The feeling of acquiring Hunter Pence is like having the greatest sex in the world. But now, someone is asking for seconds. Jayson Stark, our Phillie-lovin’ reporter over at ESPN, just tweeted sweet nothings into our ears.

It would be nice to see Jim Thome hit his 600th home run in the same place he ripped number 400. He’s hitting .231 with seven homers and 21 RBIs on the season.

Phils are either going to hold fort, go for an arm in the bull pen or a power bat off the bench. They have little over a day to work with.
