St. Louis and Roy Oswalt know each other way too well.
And this time, the Cards were all too familiar with the Phils right-hander, too much to the liking of Oswalt as they hit him up early en route to a 12-2 win Thursday night.
Oswalt’s night ended more abruptly than usual. He left after two innings, allowing four runs on five hits and no walks while striking out one. He said he was feeling discomfort in his back and that was all we would see of Oswalt.
The Cards jumped on him in the 1st when Jon Jay hit a solo home run. They tacked on three more in the 2nd with RBI singles and that was all she wrote for Oswalt.
The Phils made it a 5-1 game in the 6th when Ryan Howard hit an RBI single but that was the end of any interesting baseball for the Phils. St. Louis tacked on one in the bottom of the 6th to make it 6-1 and then doubled their run total off Danys Baez in the 8th.
